Like a Leopard Can Change Its Spots, We Can Custom Make Adhesive Spots for Your Next Project!

September 30, 2020

The other night I was reading the children’s book “Put me in the Zoo” by Robert Lopshire, for the 100th time and I laughed to myself thinking about how this book relates to glue. YES, GLUE!!  There is a line in the book, “I take my spots, I take them all, And I can make them very small. And now, you see, I take them all and I can make them very tall.” (1)  I paused after reading that and thought about how we at CGM manufacture all different sizes and tacks of adhesive spots. I talk about spots every day because in the world of adhesives, spots play a huge role.

What is a spot? It is a small pressure-sensitive double-sized adhesive that sticks to different substrates without leaving a sticky residue. Whether it’s on the back of your newest credit card, that shaving cream gift pack you received at the holidays or the large signs at your local grocery store, spots are all around you. They are safe, non-toxic, easy to use and there is no heat requirement.

Yes, the spots in the book are different than adhesive spots but it is funny how the message can be similar. At CGM we have manufactured over 200 different configurations of spots for our customers. If a customer has a specific configuration they are looking for, we can work with them to customize what they need for their specific job. As of today, we are currently stocking around 10 different spot sizes in our warehouse.

How do you know what adhesive spots you need? This is a question that comes up a lot for customers which is why we offer samples to test.

Some things to keep in mind are:

1 – What kind of tack do you need? The tack refers to how much the spot sticks to the substrate. The 4 tacks we measure in are: Low (removable), Medium (removable), High (permanent) or Super High (permanent)

2 – What profile do you need? The profile refers to how thick or how tall the spot is. There are 3 profiles: Low, Medium and High (thickest)

3 – What diameter do you need? Standard diameters are 3/8” and ½”.

There are hundreds of uses for spots! They can be used for affixing business cards, credit cards, promos, mailings, signs, and for keeping difficult items together during manufacturing.

As you can see there are some things to consider when purchasing spots and one size does not fit all. Understanding your goals and needs is what we are here for and we are happy to help you or your customers determine which adhesive spot will work best for your application.

Here at CGM,  just like the leopard in “Put me in the Zoo”, we love all of …….THE THINGS MY SPOTS CAN DO” (2)
