A few weeks ago, we shared that Chicago Glue & Machine earned our Illinois Green Business Certification, an achievement recognizing companies that don’t just talk about sustainability, they live it.

Proud is an understatement for how we feel about this accomplishment. And the hardworking team members of the Stuck-on-Sustainability (SOS) Committee who made it possible to earn this certification? Absolute rock stars. (But we already knew that.) Oh, and did we mention that CGM is the first company in DuPage County to earn this certification?  Moments like this deserve recognition and most important of all, celebration! And celebrate, we did.

There’s A (Sustainability) Party Going on Right Here

A few summers ago, CGM formed the SOS Committee to help further our sustainability efforts, and they have worked diligently to find ways to continue improving our environmental impact. The Illinois Green Business Certification gives us a roadmap for what’s next. Through ongoing education and action here at CGM, in our own homes, and throughout our communities, we’re going to continue building on our SOS efforts.

Bring Your Good Times and Your Laughter, Too

What made the day even more special was all the people who showed up to celebrate with us. We felt the support, all the love, and so much excitement from folks who are doing the good work for our planet. A big thank you to all our friends from Choose DuPage, DuPage County, Illinois Manufacturers Association, EnergySense Resilience Center, Illinois House Representative Jennifer Sanalitro’s office, and Illinois Green Business Association for joining in on the celebration. Many of these friends acted as valuable partners to us throughout the process. Their support and expertise helped CGM turn good intentions into real, measurable improvements.

Last but certainly not least, thank you to our SOS committee. Becky Grotjan, Jesus Anaya, Lauren Cantwell, and Betty Avila worked tirelessly to gather details, document what we already do well, and kept pushing action items forward. Adam Norton jumped in without hesitation when we needed a hand seeing the project through to the end. And our fearless leaders Nirel and Brad made sure the team always had the time and tools needed to get it done.

Everyone Around the World, Come On!

Here’s to the SOS Committee, the partners who supported us, the friends who celebrated with us and the work that’s still ahead. CGM’s sustainability journey isn’t a destination; it’s an ongoing commitment. And we’re just getting started!
