CGM Spotlight: Darlene Jung

March 2, 2022

How long have you been with CGM?
Since February 2021 (as a temp). I was officially hired on June 30, 2021.

What’s your favorite part about your job?
Being part of, not just a great team, but a family that works towards a specific goal. Yes, we sometimes have disagreements (just like a family), but we also have a lot of fun and share in each other’s lives. There’s also something unique in that we learn each other’s strengths so that we can work in unison to do our best for CGM to succeed.

Tell us the weirdest anecdote you have about glue.
My eldest son had broken his glasses so I tried to “fix” them until we could see the eye doctor. I ended up gluing the temple piece to the frame, but also my thumb. My son wore a little piece of my DNA on his glasses for about a week. No one could tell, but HE knew. lol

Set the scene. What does a typical Saturday look like for you?
Making a nice big breakfast, light housework, grocery shopping, playing some Switch after lunch. If it’s cold outside, crocheting by the fireplace and having soft jazz playing. If it’s hot, I’m by the pool, or out hiking.

What motto do you live by?
Always share a smile and a kind word. It’s free! AND it always returns to you.

What’s your go-to snack?
DARK (60% or better) chocolate. Ghirardelli or Godiva’s the best!

Who is your superhero?
Captain America (My youngest is in the Navy, so that seems like a given that I would like “The Cap”.)

Tell us about your family.
One geeky but lovable hubby (Kevin) of 31 years;

28-year-old eldest son, Nathan, works in I.T., married to Loreen for 3 years now;

24-year-old youngest son, Isaiah, in the Navy (going on 5 years);

1 living parent, my Mom (also my best friend AND superhero as well);

2 sisters, 1 brother. I’m the “baby” of the family.

AND, last but not least….at one time we had 9 foster boys, varying in ages from 13-17, I still consider them my kids and they are still dear to my heart.

What is your special/hidden talent or hobby?
I’m a composer. I’ve written over 100 songs. I’ve played them with my former band.

Where is your favorite vacation spot?
Florence, WI. There’s a B & B up there BEYOND comparison to any place I’ve ever stayed. I could LIVE there. In the fall it’s magical. You can sit in the hot tub outside or on an Adirondack chair and read or crochet, and the hosts are just so very special. They own a lot of property so you can go hiking, canoeing, or sit on the pier. Down the road from the B & B, there’s an amazing elegant steak house restaurant that serves the most delish seafood and aged steaks.

What’s your favorite movie or tv show?
The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings DVD series. ALL of them are great! My favorite TV show would be “Friends”.

What’s on your music playlist?
Because I’m a musician, I have a very large palette of music. I love many genres from jazz, gospel, hip hop, big band, OG rock-n-roll, Whitney Houston, boy, I could go on and on.

What’s the last book you read?
Virgin River -there are about 12 books in the series so I’m working my way through.
